Description

The Amarilli is a 650mm diameter three-light chandelier built around hand-forged scrollwork in bronze metal with gold patina detailing on cast oak leaf ornaments. Each of the three arms curves outward from a central column, terminating in an E14 candle-style bulb fitting sat on a clear cut glass sconce. Clear glass crystal drops hang from the scrolls and leaf clusters, reflecting light when the chandelier is lit.

Designed for dining rooms, bedrooms and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the chandelier hangs on a 640mm adjustable chain that allows the drop to be set between 700mm minimum and 1150mm maximum depending on room scale. The chandelier can also be converted to a flush or semi-flush mount fitting for rooms with lower ceilings, using the same decorative central section but removing the chain suspension. The 60W maximum per bulb allows traditional filament candle bulbs or LED equivalents.

The bronze base metal carries a darker, earthier tone than polished brass or antique brass, while the hand-applied gold patina highlights the raised edges of the forged scrolls and the veining on the cast oak leaves. This two-tone finish gives the chandelier depth under both daylight and artificial light. Each leaf ornament and scroll is individually forged and antiqued by hand at Elstead's workshop, so minor variations in patina tone and leaf positioning occur between individual chandeliers.

Frequently Asked

What bulbs does the Amarilli take?

The chandelier has three E14 (small Edison screw) fittings, each rated to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for a traditional warm glow, though filament-style bulbs also suit the design.

Can it be fitted to lower ceilings?

Yes. The chandelier can be converted from chain suspension to a flush or semi-flush mount by removing the chain and fitting the decorative central section directly to the ceiling rose. This reduces the total drop to around 700mm, making it suitable for rooms with 2.2-2.4m ceilings.

Is the gold patina finish consistent across all pieces?

No. Each chandelier is hand-forged and hand-antiqued at Elstead's workshop, so the exact tone and coverage of the gold patina varies slightly between individual pieces. This is a characteristic of hand-finished metalwork, not a manufacturing defect.

How is the bronze and gold finish maintained?

The antiqued bronze and gold patina should not be polished or cleaned with metal polishes, as this will strip the intentional aged finish. Dust with a dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the metal or using household sprays.
