Description

The Amarilli is a 15-light chandelier built on a two-tier bronze scrollwork frame with antiqued oak leaf detailing in gold patina, measuring 1250mm in diameter and 990mm in height before chain adjustment. Each of the 15 arms holds an E14 candle bulb (sold separately) housed in a cut glass sconce, with clear glass drops suspended from the scrollwork arms and central column to add light refraction.

Designed for high-ceiling spaces with minimum ceiling heights of 3m or above, the Amarilli suits formal dining rooms, entrance halls with double-height ceilings, and large living rooms where the chandelier can sit centrally without dominating sightlines. The chain allows adjustment between 1080mm minimum drop and 5880mm maximum drop on installation, giving flexibility for ceiling heights between 2.7m and 7m. The 1250mm diameter requires a room width of at least 4m to maintain visual balance.

The bronze frame is hand-finished with darker patina in the recessed scrollwork and lighter bronze on raised surfaces, creating depth when viewed from below. The gold patina on the oak leaf clusters is applied by hand, so each leaf shows slight tonal variation between warm gold and aged brass tones. The cut glass sconces and drops are clear rather than tinted, allowing the bulb light to reflect cleanly through the facets without colour distortion. The combined metalwork, glass components and chain give the chandelier a substantial weight that requires ceiling mounting into a structural joist or a reinforced ceiling rose.

What bulbs does it take?

The Amarilli takes 15 E14 candle bulbs up to 60W each, sold separately. Most users fit warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K to achieve a traditional candle-glow effect without the heat output of incandescent bulbs.

What ceiling height is needed?

The minimum drop from ceiling rose to the base of the chandelier is 1080mm, which suits ceiling heights of 3m or above when hanging over a dining table. For entrance halls or double-height spaces, the chain can be extended to a maximum 5880mm drop.

Can the drop be adjusted after installation?

The chain length is set during installation by removing or adding links before the wiring is completed. Once installed and wired, adjusting the drop requires re-wiring and is not a simple task.

What weight does it carry?

Elstead does not publish exact weights for the Amarilli, but the combination of bronze scrollwork, glass components and chain requires ceiling mounting into a structural joist or a reinforced ceiling rose rated for heavy fittings. Standard plasterboard ceiling roses are not sufficient.
