Description
The Knightsbridge 1m recessed LED profile is a plaster-in aluminium channel designed to sit flush within plasterboard walls and ceilings, creating a continuous linear light detail without visible fittings. The profile measures 1000mm long by 55mm wide, with a 12mm recessed depth that accepts LED strip up to 12mm wide. An opal diffuser clips into the channel opening to diffuse the LED output into a seamless line of light.
Designed for residential and commercial interiors where architectural lighting details are required without surface-mounted fittings, the profile sits within the plasterboard substrate so that only the 3mm-projection diffuser shows on the finished wall or ceiling surface. This makes it suitable for feature walls, coving details, stairwell lighting, kitchen plinths and bathroom mirror surrounds where the light source itself should remain hidden. The channel is cut into the plasterboard during first fix, the LED strip is installed within the channel, and the diffuser clips in before final plastering.
The aluminium construction provides rigidity for straight installation runs and acts as a heat sink for the LED strip, helping to maintain LED performance and lifespan. The matt silver finish on the aluminium reflects light within the channel before it passes through the opal diffuser, improving output efficiency. Each 1m length includes one opal diffuser and two end caps. Additional mounting clips and end caps are available separately (SKU 1MPLACAP) for runs longer than 1m or for corner transitions.

Frequently Asked
What width LED strip does the profile accept?
The channel accepts LED strip up to 12mm wide. Most standard flexible LED strip tape measures 8-10mm, so this profile accommodates the majority of residential and commercial LED strip products.
What's the installation process?
The aluminium channel is cut into the plasterboard during first fix, creating a recessed slot 18mm deep. The LED strip is then fixed inside the channel using adhesive backing or mounting clips. The opal diffuser clips into the channel opening, and final plastering is applied to bring the wall or ceiling surface flush with the diffuser edge, leaving only a 3mm diffuser projection visible.
Can multiple profiles be joined for longer runs?
Yes. Each profile is 1m long and can be butted end-to-end for continuous runs. Additional mounting clips and end caps (SKU 1MPLACAP) are sold separately for multi-metre installations and for corner or transition details.
Is this suitable for bathrooms?
The profile carries an IP20 rating, which means it is not water-resistant and should only be used in dry indoor locations. For bathroom zones requiring IP44 or IP65 protection, use a different profile designed for wet areas.
