Description
A neat square of cast gypsum finished in white primer, made to be painted so it reads as part of the wall rather than an object hung on it. The face measures 12cm across and the projection is shallow, keeping the fitting close in and easy to walk past. Light comes from an integrated LED at a warm white tone, giving 592 lumens from 6.5W, which is enough to lift a dark corner without glare. There is no switch on the body and no dimming, so it runs from the wall switch that feeds it.
We reach for this one in hallways, stairwells and landings, where a wall light needs to sit tidily and throw a soft wash rather than light a whole room. A pair either side of a doorway or a mirror works well, and it suits a bedside position for anyone who wants reading light kept off the floor space. Because the surface takes paint, it is a good choice in a room where you would rather not see a fitting at all, and equally good in a colour-drenched scheme where everything is meant to match.
Gypsum has a chalky, slightly soft-edged look that plaster-finished walls tend to flatter, and the primed face will accept emulsion straight from the tin if you want it to disappear. Treat it gently in use: dust with a dry soft brush rather than a damp cloth, keep cleaning sprays away from the surface, and touch in any knocks with the same paint you used on the wall. It is intended for dry rooms indoors, away from bathrooms and anywhere prone to steam. It carries a three year warranty. Elsewhere in the Alina range we stock round and sphere wall lamps in the same paintable gypsum, along with cone, cylinder, rectangular and dome pendants if you want the finish repeated overhead. The light source is built in, so there is nothing further to buy.

Frequently Asked
Can I paint it to match my wall?
Yes. It arrives in a white paintable primer and will take standard emulsion, so it can be finished in the same colour as the surrounding wall.
How much light does it give and in what tone?
592 lumens from a 6.5W integrated LED at 3000K, a warm white that suits hallways, landings and bedrooms.
Is it dimmable?
No. It is a non-dimmable fitting and is not switched on the body, so it should be run from a standard wall switch.
What size is it and how far does it stand off the wall?
The square face is 125mm by 125mm with a projection of 60mm, so it stays close in on a narrow route.
Do I ever need to replace a lamp?
No. The LED is integral to the fitting, so there is no lamp to change or buy separately.
How should I clean the gypsum?
Dust it with a dry soft brush or a clean make-up brush. Avoid water and cleaning sprays, as gypsum is porous, and touch up marks with wall paint.
