Description
The Alderworth floor lamp in the flame colourway stands 1560mm tall under a 500mm Tiffany-style shade, the dragonfly motif set into leaded glass in warm amber tones. Cut pieces of glass are leaded into a metal frame so the wings show clearly against the ground colour, and the amber glass turns the light noticeably warm when the lamp is on. Two E27 GLS bulbs up to 60W each sit inside, supplied separately. It weighs 10.2kg, with a heavy cast base holding it steady on any floor.
Amber glass is what we suggest when you want a room to feel warmer at night, so this floor light works particularly well in a living room, a snug or a study where you sit in the evening. Beside an armchair the shade sits just above shoulder height for reading; at the end of a sofa it fills the corner that overhead lighting misses. Two lamps make it bright enough to be the main light in the room. It suits period houses, cottages and traditional interiors, and reads well against wood, leather and warm paint.
The shade is assembled by hand from individual glass pieces, cut and leaded into the frame, so the pattern varies a little between lamps. The column and base carry a warm finish that stays behind the glass rather than competing with it. Dust with a dry soft cloth once the bulbs have cooled, and use a barely damp cloth for marks, keeping sprays and solvents clear of the leaded seams. It is not rated for dimming, and it is a Class 1 earthed fitting rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms. Alderworth table lamps, pendants and a wall light run alongside it in the same glass.

Frequently Asked
What does the flame colourway look like?
Warm amber tones through the leaded glass, with the dragonfly motif worked across the shade. Lit, it throws a noticeably warm light; unlit, the glass reads as honey and orange.
What is the shade made from?
Cut pieces of coloured glass, leaded together by hand into a metal frame in the Tiffany-style method, on a weighted metal base.
How many bulbs and what type?
Two E27 screw bulbs in a GLS shape, up to 60W each, not supplied. Warm white suits the amber glass; fit both lamps the same so the shade lights evenly.
How much floor space does it need?
It stands 1560mm tall with a 500mm shade, so allow around 500mm of clear width. It sits comfortably beside an armchair or at the end of a sofa.
How do I clean it?
Dust with a dry soft cloth or soft brush once the bulbs are cool, and wipe marks with a barely damp cloth. Avoid sprays, polishes and solvents, which can dull the lead between the glass pieces.
Can I put it on a dimmer?
No, this lamp is not rated for dimming. Standard switching is the way to run it.
