Alderworth Small Tiffany Table Lamp - Flame

The Alderworth small table lamp in the flame colourway stands 555mm tall with a 300mm Tiffany-style shade, a slimmer shape than the medium at the same height. The dragonfly motif is set into leaded glass in warm amber tones, cut piece by piece and leaded into a metal frame. Two E27 GLS bulbs up to 60W each sit inside, so the narrower shade still gives plenty of light. It weighs 3.5kg and bulbs are supplied separately, which lets you pick the colour temperature to suit the amber glass.

Amber is the warmest of the three colourways, so we place this lamp in a snug, a study or a bedroom, anywhere you want the light to feel softer at night. The 300mm shade fits surfaces the medium would overhang, including bedside tables and slim hallway consoles, and a pair at either end of a sideboard balances a wall neatly. At 555mm the light falls at a sensible height for reading in a chair or in bed. It suits period houses, cottages and traditional interiors.

Each shade is assembled by hand from individual pieces of glass, leaded into the frame, so the pattern varies a little between lamps. The base carries a warm finish that stays behind the glass. Dust with a dry soft cloth once the bulbs are cool, wipe marks with a barely damp cloth, and keep polish and solvents clear of the leaded seams; wipe the base dry afterwards. This lamp is not rated for dimming, so run it on standard switching. It is IP20 for dry indoor rooms and a Class 1 earthed fitting. Mini and medium Alderworth lamps run in the same amber glass.

Which bulbs does it need?

Two E27 screw bulbs in a GLS shape, up to 60W each, not supplied. Warm white around 2700K suits the amber glass, and matching both keeps the light even.

Will the amber glass make the light very orange?

It gives a warm cast rather than a strong colour, which is why it works well in rooms used in the evening. The blue and beige versions read cooler and softer.

How do I clean it?

Dust with a dry soft cloth or soft brush once the bulbs have cooled, and lift marks with a barely damp cloth. Keep sprays, polishes and solvents away from the lead.

Is it dimmable?

No, it is not rated for dimming. Use standard switching, or a lower wattage warm bulb if you want a softer light.
