Description
The Alderworth small table lamp in blue stands 555mm tall with a 300mm Tiffany-style shade, which gives it a slimmer profile than the medium at the same height. The dragonfly motif is set into leaded glass, cut piece by piece and leaded into a metal frame, with the wings showing clearly against the blue ground. Two E27 GLS bulbs up to 60W each sit inside, so the smaller shade does not mean a dim lamp. It weighs 3.7kg, with bulbs supplied separately.
The narrower shade makes this the size we suggest for surfaces the medium would overhang: a bedside table, a slim hallway console, a desk, or a pair at each end of a sideboard. Two of them either side of a bed or a mirror bring symmetry to a wall, and at 555mm tall the light falls at a sensible height for reading in bed. The blue glass suits cooler schemes, sitting well with grey, green and off-white walls, and it glows deeply once the lamp is lit rather than washing out.
Every shade is assembled by hand from individual pieces of glass, leaded into the frame, so the pattern varies slightly from lamp to lamp. The base carries a warm finish that keeps the glass at the front. Dust with a dry soft cloth once the bulbs have cooled, lift marks with a barely damp cloth, and keep polish and solvents clear of the leaded seams. This lamp is not rated for dimming, so pair it with standard switching. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms and is a Class 1 earthed fitting. Medium and mini Alderworth table lamps carry the same blue glass.

Frequently Asked
What is the difference between small and medium?
Both stand 555mm tall, but this shade measures 300mm across against 410mm on the medium, so it takes up less room on a surface and reads slimmer.
What is on the glass?
The dragonfly motif in blue, cut from individual pieces of glass and leaded into a metal frame in the Tiffany-style method. Each shade varies a little because of the hand work.
Does it work as a pair?
Yes, two either side of a bed, a mirror or a sofa balance a wall well. The narrow shade means a pair fits a sideboard without crowding it.
Which bulbs does it use?
Two E27 screw bulbs in a GLS shape, up to 60W each, not included. Match both so the shade lights evenly, and warm white suits the blue glass.
How do I look after the shade?
Dust with a dry soft cloth or soft brush once the bulbs are cool, and use a barely damp cloth on marks. Keep sprays, polishes and solvents away from the leading.
Is it dimmable?
No, it is not rated for dimming. Standard switching is the way to run it, and a lower wattage warm bulb gives a gentler light.
