Description
The Alderworth small table lamp stands 555mm tall with a 300mm Tiffany-style shade, giving it a taller, narrower shape than the medium size at the same height. The dragonfly motif is set into leaded glass in soft beige and cream, cut piece by piece and leaded into a metal frame. Two E27 GLS bulbs up to 60W each sit inside, so despite the smaller shade it is not a token light. It weighs 3.5kg, and bulbs are supplied separately so you can choose the tone.
The narrower shade is the point of this size: we put it on surfaces where the medium would overhang, such as a slim console in a hallway, a bedside table, or either end of a sideboard as a matching pair. Two lamps flanking a mirror or a bed give a room symmetry and put light at a useful height for reading. The beige glass keeps things quiet in a scheme with plenty going on already, and the light it gives is warm and neutral rather than tinted. It suits period houses and traditional rooms.
Every shade is put together by hand from individual glass pieces, leaded into the frame, so the pattern varies slightly and small differences come with the making. The base carries a warm finish that sits behind the glass. Dust with a dry soft cloth once the bulbs have cooled, lift marks with a barely damp cloth, and keep polish and solvents clear of the leaded seams. This lamp is not rated for dimming, so run it on standard switching. It is IP20 for dry indoor rooms and a Class 1 earthed fitting. Medium and mini Alderworth table lamps use the same glass.

Frequently Asked
How does the small size differ from the medium?
Both stand 555mm tall, but this shade is 300mm across rather than 410mm, so it reads slimmer and fits narrower surfaces without overhanging.
What is the shade made from?
Cut pieces of beige and cream glass, leaded by hand into a metal frame in the Tiffany-style method, carrying the dragonfly motif.
Will it work as a bedside lamp?
Yes. At 300mm across and 555mm tall it sits comfortably on most bedside tables, and a pair either side of a bed puts light at a good height for reading.
How many bulbs does it need?
Two E27 screw bulbs in a GLS shape, up to 60W each, not included. Match both bulbs so the shade lights evenly.
How should I clean it?
Dust with a dry soft cloth or soft brush once the bulbs are cool, and wipe marks with a barely damp cloth. Avoid sprays, polishes and solvents near the lead between the glass pieces.
Can I dim it?
No, it is not rated for dimming. Use standard switching, or fit a lower wattage warm bulb for a gentler light.
