Description
The Alderworth medium table lamp in the flame colourway sets a 410mm Tiffany-style shade on a turned metal base, standing 555mm tall. The dragonfly motif is worked into leaded glass in warm amber tones, cut piece by piece and leaded into a metal frame, and the wide shade spreads light across a good stretch of a room. Two E27 GLS bulbs up to 60W each sit inside, so it works as a real light source rather than only a decorative one. It weighs 4.2kg, with bulbs supplied separately.
This is the warmest and largest of the Alderworth table lamps, which makes it the one we suggest where you want a room to feel softer at night. On a side table beside a sofa it puts light at reading height and throws amber colour onto the wall behind; on a console or sideboard it can carry a living room in the evening with the ceiling light off. It suits period houses, snugs and traditional rooms, and sits comfortably against wood, leather, brass and warm paint colours.
Every shade is built by hand from individual pieces of glass, leaded into the frame, so the colour placement varies slightly and no two lamps are quite the same. The base carries a warm finish that keeps the glass at the front. Dust the shade with a dry soft cloth once the bulbs are cool, wipe marks with a barely damp cloth, and keep polish and solvents away from the leaded seams. This one is not rated for dimming. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms and is a Class 1 earthed fitting. Small and mini Alderworth table lamps, plus pendants and a floor lamp, use the same amber glass.

Frequently Asked
What is on the shade?
The dragonfly motif, cut from individual pieces of amber glass and leaded into a metal frame in the Tiffany-style method. Each shade varies a little because it is assembled by hand.
How much surface does it need?
The shade is 410mm across and the lamp stands 555mm tall, so allow a side table, console or sideboard with around 400mm of depth.
How many bulbs does it take?
Two E27 screw bulbs in a GLS shape, up to 60W each, not included. Warm white suits the amber glass; fit both the same so the shade lights evenly.
How warm is the light?
Amber is the warmest of the three colourways, giving a soft warm cast rather than a strong orange. The blue and beige versions read cooler and quieter.
How do I clean it?
Switch off and let the bulbs cool, then dust with a dry soft cloth or soft brush. Use a barely damp cloth for marks and dry it straight away, keeping sprays and solvents off the leading.
Can I dim it?
No, this lamp is not rated for dimming. Standard switching is the way to run it, and a lower wattage bulb gives a gentler light.
