Description

The Alderworth pendant in beige is a three light ceiling light with a 410mm Tiffany-style shade in soft neutral leaded glass, hung the conventional way so the light falls downwards. The dragonfly motif is set out across the glass with the wings outstretched, drawn in slim leaded pieces against a cream and stone ground. The drop adjusts from 470mm to 1360mm, which is a wide range, and it takes three 60W E27 GLS bulbs, supplied separately. It is dimmable with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer.

A downward facing pendant puts the light where you want it, so this is the one to hang over a dining table, a kitchen island or a round hall table. The beige glass keeps things quiet in a room that already has pattern in the walls or the floor, while the leadwork gives the fitting enough definition to be worth looking at. The long adjustment range means it works over a table or high in a stairwell. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The glass is cut and leaded piece by piece, then soldered into a metal frame with a metal gallery, chain and ceiling rose, so colour and seam lines differ slightly from one shade to the next. At 2.6kg it is straightforward to fix, and it is Class 1, so it needs an earth at the rose and a qualified electrician to connect it. Dust with a dry, soft cloth and use a barely damp cloth where marks need lifting, keeping sprays away from the solder. Blue and flame colourways and an inverted Alderworth pendant are also available.
