Alderworth Medium 3 Light Tiffany Inverted Pendant - Flame

The Alderworth medium inverted pendant in the flame colourway sets its Tiffany-style glass as an open bowl 410mm across, mouth-up, so light washes the ceiling before it comes back into the room. The dragonfly motif is worked across leaded glass in warm amber tones, the wings cut from individual pieces and set into a metal frame. Three E27 GLS bulbs up to 60W each sit low in the bowl, out of sight from below. The drop adjusts between 600mm and 1000mm, it weighs 3.5kg, and bulbs are supplied separately.

We would hang this as the main ceiling light over a dining table, a kitchen table or in a hall with reasonable height. Amber glass warms the light noticeably, so it is a good choice for a room you use mainly in the evening, and the upward throw keeps the whole space lit rather than only the table below. Every bowl is built by hand from cut glass pieces, leaded together and hung on three chains from a warm-finished ceiling plate, so the pattern shifts a little from one fitting to the next. Because the shade faces up it gathers dust, so lift it out with a dry soft cloth or a soft brush every few weeks and wipe marks with a barely damp cloth. Keep polishes and solvents away from the leaded seams. It is dimmable, rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms, and a Class 1 fitting requiring an earth.
