Description

The Alderworth flush ceiling light in flame is a two light fitting, 410mm across, with a Tiffany-style shade in amber and warm orange leaded glass. The pattern is set out around the dragonfly motif, with outstretched dragonfly wings drawn in narrow pieces of glass across the dome. It projects 210mm from the ceiling, takes two 60W E27 GLS bulbs supplied separately, and is dimmable with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer. The fitting weighs 3.3kg.

Amber glass is the warmest of the colourways in this pattern, and it turns almost honeyed once the lamps are on, which makes it a good choice for north facing rooms, hallways with little daylight, and bedrooms where you want the light to feel soft rather than crisp. As a flush ceiling light, also listed as flush mount or semi-flush, it suits ceilings too low for a pendant. It sits well with wood floors, warm neutral walls and brass ironmongery.

Every piece of glass is cut and leaded on its own before soldering into the frame, so the depth of the amber and the run of the leadwork change slightly from shade to shade. The frame and mounting plate are metal, and the shade releases for bulb changes. It is Class 1, so an earth connection is needed, and we would have a qualified electrician install it into a joist or a rated anchor. Dust with a dry cloth, wipe marks with a barely damp one, and keep sprays off the solder. Blue and beige Alderworth colourways are available too.
