Description

The Alderworth flush ceiling light in beige is a two light fitting with a 410mm Tiffany-style shade in soft neutral leaded glass, projecting 210mm from the ceiling. The dragonfly motif runs across the dome in narrow glass pieces, with the wings outstretched, so the pattern comes through in the leadwork rather than through strong colour. Two 60W E27 GLS bulbs go inside, supplied separately, and it is dimmable with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer. At 2.7kg it is the lightest of the three colourways.

Beige is the version to choose if you like leaded glass but want the ceiling to stay quiet. It reads as cream and pale stone by day and glows warm gold when lit, which makes it easy to live with in bedrooms, landings, hallways, dining rooms and open plan spaces where a strongly coloured shade would fight the walls. As a flush ceiling light, also listed as flush mount or semi-flush, it suits ceilings that cannot take a pendant.

The glass is cut and leaded panel by panel before soldering into a metal frame, so the colour and the run of the seams vary a little between shades. The mounting plate is metal and the shade releases for bulb changes. It is Class 1, which means an earth connection at the ceiling, and we would have a qualified electrician make it. Dust with a dry, soft cloth, using a barely damp cloth only where marks need lifting, and keep sprays away from the solder. Blue and flame Alderworth colourways are available if you want more colour.
