Description
The Alderworth large pendant is a downward Tiffany-style shade, 500mm across, with the dragonfly motif set into leaded glass in soft beige and cream tones. Cut pieces of glass are leaded into a metal frame, and the wide shallow shape lays a broad pool of light below while the glass glows warmly at the sides. Three E27 GLS bulbs up to 60W each make it bright enough for a main ceiling light. The drop adjusts across a long range, from 545mm to 1380mm, and it weighs 4.4kg with bulbs supplied separately.
At 500mm with three lamps, this is the size we reach for over a dining table, a kitchen island or a large hall table, and the long drop makes it workable in a stairwell or a room with a high ceiling. The beige colourway is the quietest of the three, so it suits a scheme where you want the pattern and the shape without a strong colour cast; the light it gives is warm and neutral rather than tinted. It sits comfortably in period houses, modern homes and traditional interiors alike.
The shade is assembled by hand from individual pieces of glass, cut and leaded into the frame, so the pattern varies slightly between shades and small differences come with the making. The gallery and ceiling plate carry a warm finish that keeps the focus on the glass. Dust with a dry soft cloth and wipe marks with a barely damp cloth, keeping sprays and solvents away from the leaded seams. It is dimmable, rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms, and a Class 1 fitting needing an earth at the ceiling. Alderworth table lamps and a matching floor lamp run alongside.

Frequently Asked
What is on the shade?
The dragonfly motif, worked in cut pieces of beige and cream glass leaded into a metal frame in the Tiffany-style method. Each shade is assembled by hand, so the pattern varies a little.
Is the beige colourway less colourful?
It is the softest of the three, giving pattern and texture without a strong colour cast. The light it throws stays warm and neutral, which suits rooms where a bolder glass would dominate.
How low can it hang?
The drop adjusts from 545mm to 1380mm and the shade is 500mm wide. Over a table, most people set the base of the shade around 750mm to 900mm above the surface.
How many bulbs does it need?
Three E27 screw bulbs in a GLS shape, up to 60W each, not included. Use matching bulbs so the glass lights evenly across the shade.
How should I clean it?
Dust with a dry soft cloth or soft brush once the bulbs are cool. A barely damp cloth lifts marks; dry it straight away and avoid sprays, polishes and solvents near the lead.
Can it be dimmed, and where can it go?
Yes, it is dimmable with suitable bulbs and switch. It is rated IP20 and Class 1, so it needs an earth and belongs in dry indoor rooms.
