Description
The Alderworth large three light inverted pendant in beige carries a 500mm upward facing bowl of Tiffany-style leaded glass, with a dragonfly motif set into softer, warmer glass than the blue version. Each piece is cut on its own and joined by soldered seams across a metal frame. Because the bowl faces up, light reaches the ceiling first and comes back into the room without glare. Three E27 GLS bulbs of up to 60W each are needed and are supplied separately, and the drop adjusts between 600mm and 1000mm as the ceiling light goes in.
That longer drop makes this the version for taller rooms, first floor landings and hallways with height, as well as dining rooms where a lower hang suits the table. The beige and amber glass gives a warmer cast than the blue, so it sits easily with oak, natural linen, cream plaster and older brass. At 4.7kg we would fix it into a joist or onto a mounting plate rather than trusting an old ceiling rose. The fitting is rated IP20 for dry indoor use.
Construction is soldered leaded glass suspended on chains from a metal frame, wired as a Class 1 earthed fitting, so an electrician should install it. Upward facing shades gather dust, so brush the bowl out every few months, then lift marks with a barely damp cloth and dry straight away, keeping solvents and abrasive creams away from the solder lines. Let bulbs cool before changing them. If a shorter hang suits your ceiling better, the same fitting is available in blue, and the Alderworth medium pendant repeats the glass on a smaller scale.

Frequently Asked
How is this different from the blue version?
The glass is beige and amber rather than blue, which reads warmer, and the drop is longer at 600mm to 1000mm, so it suits taller rooms.
What is the shade made from?
Tiffany-style leaded glass with a dragonfly motif, cut piece by piece and joined with soldered seams over a metal frame.
What are the measurements?
The bowl is 500mm in diameter, the drop adjusts from 600mm to 1000mm and the fitting weighs 4.7kg.
Which bulbs does it use?
Three E27 GLS bulbs of up to 60W each, supplied separately. It is dimmable with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer.
How do I keep the bowl clean?
Brush the dust out every few months, then wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry at once. Avoid solvents and abrasive creams near the solder.
Where does an inverted pendant work best?
In rooms that need general light rather than a pool over a table, since the upward throw lifts light off the ceiling and spreads it softly.
