Alana Outdoor Up/Down Square Wall Light - Black

The Alana is a square outdoor wall light in matt black polycarbonate housing two GU10 fittings that cast light both upwards and downwards onto the wall surface. The IP65 rating seals the lamp chambers against dust and water jets, making the fitting suitable for exposed exterior walls, coastal locations and areas with persistent rain or salt spray.

Designed for residential front doors, garden walls, garage entrances and commercial building perimeters, the Alana mounts directly onto brick, render or cladding via the rear backplate. The compact 150mm height and 68mm width give a low-profile appearance that works on narrow wall sections between doors and windows. The dual-beam arrangement creates a vertical line of light on the wall behind the fitting, providing wayfinding and accent lighting rather than wide flood illumination.

The polycarbonate body resists corrosion better than powder-coated aluminium in salt-laden air, and the matt black finish hides minor surface marks from handling or weathering. The fitting accepts two GU10 LED lamps up to 5W each (sold separately), giving control over colour temperature and beam angle. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific GU10 lamp chosen. The Class II double-insulated construction means no earth wire is required during installation.

What does IP65 mean for outdoor use?

IP65 certifies that the fitting is fully dust-sealed and protected against water jets from any direction. This makes the Alana suitable for exposed walls, coastal locations with salt spray, and areas subject to heavy rain or hose-down cleaning.

What bulbs does it take?

The Alana requires two GU10 bulbs up to 5W each, sold separately. Most users choose warm-white LED GU10s between 2700K and 3000K with a narrow or medium beam angle to create defined up/down light lines on the wall.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the GU10 bulbs fitted. Choose dimmable GU10 LEDs and pair with a compatible LED dimmer switch to enable dimming. Non-dimmable GU10 LEDs will not dim and may flicker or fail if used with a dimmer.

How is the fitting mounted?

The Alana mounts via a rear backplate fixed directly to the wall with screws and wall plugs. The fitting is Class II double-insulated, so no earth connection is required. Standard twin-and-earth mains cable connects to a terminal block inside the rear housing.
