The Aethera drum lampshade is a wide, shallow cylinder in beige, 45cm across and 9cm deep, with a softly textured outer band and a clean white underside. It is a shade only: the box holds the lampshade itself, with no lamp holder and no bulb. To become a working light it needs one of the Aethera range's ceiling lamp holders or pendant light fittings, sold separately, and that fitting is a requirement rather than an option, so it makes sense to choose the two together.

At 45cm across, this drum has real presence in the centre of a living room or bedroom ceiling, or over a dining table, yet at only 9cm deep it stays neat and never bulky. On a ceiling lamp holder it sits up close to the ceiling, which suits rooms where headroom is limited; on a pendant fitting it hangs as a broad, low drum of soft colour.
