Description

The Aegean is an 8-light chandelier built on a hand-forged aged brass frame with scrollwork arms radiating from a central column. Eight E14 candle bulbs (sold separately) sit in brass sleeves, each positioned above a clear cut glass drip dish. Cut glass droplets hang from the centre and arms, catching and refracting the light when the chandelier is switched on.

At 650mm diameter and 460mm body height, the Aegean suits dining rooms above tables seating 6-8, living rooms with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, and entrance halls where the chandelier can be centred and seen from below. The 1760mm chain allows the drop to be adjusted on installation between 550mm and 1810mm, so the chandelier can be set higher in rooms with lower ceilings or dropped lower in double-height spaces. The chain conceals the cable run and attaches to a standard UK ceiling rose.

The aged brass finish sits somewhere between antique brass and satin brass in tone — it has visible patina and tonal variation across the surface rather than a uniform polished appearance. The scrollwork is cast and hand-finished, so slight differences in the curve and detailing between individual pieces are part of the production method. The cut glass droplets are faceted to catch candlelight or LED flame-effect bulbs, creating moving reflections when air circulates around the fitting.

The chandelier takes eight E14 small Edison screw bulbs, up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most buyers pair this with LED candle bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) or LED flame-effect candles for a traditional candelabra appearance.

What ceiling height is needed?

The body is 460mm tall and the minimum drop from ceiling to base is 550mm, so you need at least 1m of vertical clearance below the ceiling rose to avoid the chandelier sitting too low. For dining tables, position the base of the chandelier 700-900mm above the table surface. This typically requires ceiling heights of 2.7m or above.

How is the aged brass finish maintained?

The aged brass patina is part of the designed finish and should not be polished away. Wipe gently with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For stubborn marks, use a barely-damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not use metal polish or household cleaners, as these will strip the patina.

Can the glass droplets be removed for cleaning?

Yes. The cut glass droplets hang on small metal loops and can be unhooked individually for cleaning or dusting. Wash in warm soapy water, rinse and dry before re-hanging.
