Description

The Aegean is a 3-light chandelier with hand-forged scrollwork in polished nickel, two curved arms extending from a central cage-style frame, and cut-glass droplets suspended beneath each bulb holder. Each arm terminates in an E14 candle fitting with a clear glass drip tray, and the central stem features a decorative twisted barley detail running from the ceiling hook to the central finial drop. The polished nickel finish gives the metalwork a mirror-like reflective quality.

Designed for dining tables, hallways and bedrooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Aegean sits at the intersection of traditional ironwork and polished contemporary finishes. The overall drop from ceiling to finial is adjustable on installation via the chain length, allowing the chandelier to be positioned 700-900mm above a dining table or left higher in an entrance hall. The three bulbs (sold separately) provide ambient rather than task lighting, with the glass droplets catching and refracting light across the room.

The scrollwork is hand-forged rather than cast, giving each curve a slight irregularity and weight that distinguishes the Aegean from mass-produced fittings. The polished nickel plating requires occasional cleaning with a soft cloth to maintain the mirror finish, particularly in kitchens or dining rooms where airborne grease can dull the surface. The fixture weighs approximately 2kg when fully assembled, requiring a ceiling rose rated for chandelier loads.

What bulbs does it take?

The Aegean takes three E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulbs up to 40W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs at 2700K-3000K to complement the polished nickel finish.

What room size does it suit?

The chandelier's width of approximately 400mm suits dining tables up to 1.8m long, medium-sized entrance halls, and bedrooms of 12-16m². In larger spaces the Aegean works best in clusters or paired with additional lighting.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs fitted. LED candle bulbs marked as dimmable will work with most trailing-edge dimmers. Check the bulb packaging for dimmer compatibility before purchase.

How is the polished nickel maintained?

Wipe the metalwork with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For fingerprints or grease marks, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water and dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cleaners or polishes that can scratch the plating.
