Description
The Adastra V24-VR is a 100V line volume control (also called an attenuator) built for commercial and public address sound systems. It handles up to 24W and gives you attenuation across 10 steps, made up of 8 x 3dB steps and 2 x 6dB steps, so you can set levels in individual zones without affecting the rest of the system. It comes complete with a plastic surface mount back box, so everything you need to fit it is in the box.
The main feature here is the fitted 24V relay, rated at 50mA. This lets the attenuator be bypassed to full volume when triggered from a fire alarm panel, which is a common requirement for voice alarm and emergency announcement setups. If an alarm signal is received, the volume control is overridden so evacuation messages are heard clearly regardless of how the local level was set. The frequency response runs from 35Hz to 20kHz, covering the range needed for speech and general background music.
The faceplate is ABS with a matching plastic knob, giving a plain finish that suits offices, shops, schools and similar spaces. Assembled dimensions are 85 x 85 x 75mm including the back box, with a mounting depth of 47mm, so check you have enough clearance behind the wall surface before fitting. This is a straightforward, practical part for anyone specifying or maintaining a 100V distributed audio system that needs zone-level control alongside fire alarm bypass.

Frequently Asked
What does the 24V relay do?
The 24V relay allows the attenuator to be bypassed to full volume when triggered from a fire alarm panel. This makes sure evacuation messages are heard at full level regardless of the local volume setting.
How many attenuation steps does it have?
It offers 10 steps in total: 8 x 3dB steps and 2 x 6dB steps, giving you flexible level control per zone.
Is this suitable for 100V line systems?
Yes. It is designed for 100V line audio systems and handles up to 24W, making it suitable for public address and background music installs.
Does it come with a back box?
Yes. It is supplied complete with a plastic surface mount back box, so you have everything needed to fit it.
What are the mounting dimensions?
Assembled it measures 85 x 85 x 75mm including the back box, with a mounting depth of 47mm.
What is the frequency response?
The frequency response runs from 35Hz to 20kHz, covering speech and general music use.
