Description

The Adastra SL5 is a slimline ceiling speaker sold as a pair, built for a discreet in-ceiling install where you want good sound without hardware on show. Each speaker uses a hi-flex 5.25" main driver for full range output with extended low frequency response, paired with a mylar tweeter that handles the high frequencies cleanly. A 2-way crossover network splits the signal between the two so each driver does its job properly.

Fitting is straightforward. The SL5 uses three 'dog-ear' mounts (the same as the SL6) that clamp the speaker against the underside of the ceiling once it is pushed into the cut-out, so you do not need access from above. Wiring is handled by gold-plated spring terminals, which grip bare speaker cable and resist corrosion over time. The flared baffle helps spread the sound across a wide area, with a dispersion angle of 160 degrees, so you get even coverage across a room rather than a narrow beam.

With an 8 ohm impedance, the SL5 works with standard hi-fi amplifiers and most multi-room amps, making it a sensible choice for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and general background listening. The low profile sits close to flush with the ceiling once painted or left as supplied, keeping the room clean and uncluttered.
