Description

The Adastra LR2 is a compact, battery powered receiver for use with induction loop systems, also known as hearing loop systems. It clips onto a belt and picks up the audio signal broadcast by a loop, feeding it to a pair of headphones. We supply it with in-ear headphones so it is ready to use straight away, and its small size means it sits neatly out of the way while you move around a space.

The receiver has a 3.5mm headphone jack socket, so you can connect the supplied earphones or your own set. A volume control lets you set a comfortable listening level, and a lo-cut switch helps clean up the sound by reducing low frequency hum or interference. The headphone output is rated for 32 Ohms nominal impedance, which suits most standard in-ear and on-ear headphones. Power comes from a single 9V PP3 battery, which is not included, so keep a spare to hand.

One common use is testing and setting up induction loop installations, letting an engineer walk the room and check signal strength and coverage. The LR2 also works well as a quiet audio tour guide alongside an existing loop, which suits art galleries, museums and similar venues where you want visitors to hear a commentary without loudspeakers filling the room. The unit measures 60 x 117 x 32mm and weighs 80g without a battery, so it is easy to carry or hand out for the length of a visit.
