Description

The Adastra LA-300 mkII is a rack-mountable induction loop amplifier (also called a hearing loop amplifier) built to drive a cable loop around a room and give assisted listening to hearing aid users. It suits public and commercial buildings such as reception areas, meeting rooms, places of worship and ticket counters, where clear speech matters to anyone using a compatible hearing aid. The unit fits a standard 19" rack and works with most standard hearing aids set to their T (telecoil) position.

Three mic/line channels each carry their own level switch and phantom power switch, so you can connect microphones or line sources as needed. Channel 1 can be set as priority, muting the others when it is in use for announcements or an alarm feed. Front panel controls, including channel volume, bass, treble and loop current level, are adjusted with a screwdriver and are tamper proof, which keeps settings safe once the loop has been commissioned. Adjustable metal loss correction helps you compensate for steel in the building structure that would otherwise weaken the loop signal.

A peak current LED gives a clear read on drive level while you set up the loop, and alarm contacts let a built-in siren tie into an existing fire or alert system. The amplifier runs from a 110/240Vac IEC supply and covers a 50Hz to 5kHz frequency response at ±3dB, with signal to noise figures of 75dB on line and 60dB on mic. Total harmonic distortion sits below 1%. For a fixed install that needs reliable hearing assistance and locked-down controls, the LA-300 mkII is a straightforward choice.

Frequently Asked

How many input channels does the LA-300 mkII have?

It has three mic/line channels. Each channel has its own level control plus switches for mic/line level and phantom power, so you can mix microphones and line sources.

Will it work with standard hearing aids?

Yes. It is suitable for most standard hearing aids used with their T (telecoil) setting, which pick up the magnetic field produced by the cable loop.

Can it be rack mounted?

Yes, it is designed to fit a standard 19" rack, so it sits neatly alongside other install equipment in a cabinet.

What is metal loss correction for?

Steel in a building's structure weakens the loop signal. The adjustable metal loss correction lets you compensate so the loop still meets the required field strength.

Are the controls protected from tampering?

Yes. The channel volume, bass, treble and loop current controls are tamper proof and adjusted with a screwdriver, so settings stay fixed once commissioned.

Does it support alarm or announcement priority?

Channel 1 is switchable to priority, and alarm contacts allow a built-in siren to override other inputs when needed.
