Description

The Adastra L50U is a large 50W megaphone built for announcements, event management and crowd control. It uses a 340mm spun aluminium flare with a carrying handle, and the sound can project as far as 1.5km. You can run it free standing on the rear legs, sling it over your shoulder with the included strap, or mount it onto a stand using the 8mm threaded socket in the top of the flare.

Alongside the standard voice function, the L50U has a built-in USB/SD media player so you can play back audio without a separate source, plus a 3.5mm aux input for connecting other devices. The rear panel holds the player controls, the aux input and a latched cover for the battery compartment. Three latching buttons handle on/off, USB/SD and siren, while a non-latching button triggers the whistle. A single rotary volume control governs the lot.

A hard-wired clip microphone is supplied with its own talk button and volume control. If you prefer, you can connect a separate microphone to the 6.3mm mic input on the unit. Power comes from 10 x D cell batteries (not supplied) or an external 12Vdc supply, and the heavy duty aluminium horn flare is made to stand up to regular field use. The whole thing weighs 2.2kg without batteries, so it stays manageable during long shifts. Note that in US terms a megaphone is sometimes called a bullhorn, and the clip microphone (mic) works the same way whichever term you use.
