Description
The Adastra DM-8 is a 1U rack-mount digital messaging unit built for scheduled audio playback. Audio files sit on a removable SD card, which you can load by inserting the card into a PC or by recording directly on the unit. Schedules are held on the same SD media as a separate file, so you can edit them on a computer and keep a backup. You can also prepare several SD cards with different messages and schedules, then swap them in for different routines through the day.
You get up to 99 audio tracks and up to 99 schedule events stored on the card, each set by 24 hour time and the day or days of the week. The free PC software lets you build and edit schedules away from the unit. A mic/line input handles recording or live announcements and can override SD playback, with phantom power (+20V) available for condenser mics. A separate BGM line input takes background music with its own level control, and it mutes automatically when messages play or during paging.
Connections cover a paging mic/line input on XLR or terminals, a BGM input on RCA (phono), and a mono output on balanced terminal or unbalanced RCA. Trigger contacts for Message 1 to 8, Stop and Ground let you fire specific files from external switches. The unit runs from 100-240Vac at 50/60Hz or 24Vdc, so it fits mains or DC installs, and it accepts 4-32GB FAT32 SD cards, full size or via adaptor. The DM-8 adds automated timed announcements, music or audio alerts to any sound system.
