Description

The Adastra COM46 is a slimline conference microphone built for meetings, boardrooms and presentation setups. It uses a back-electret condenser capsule on a flexible gooseneck stem, so you can angle it towards the speaker and leave it in place. The stem sits on a solid base unit that houses the controls and power, keeping the whole thing tidy on a desk or lectern.

Power comes from either 2 x AAA batteries fitted in the base or from external phantom power at 9 to 52Vdc, which gives you options depending on your mixer or desk. Connection to the base is via XLR, and we supply a 5m XLR male to female lead in the box so you can get it wired in straight away. The base also has an electronic latching paging switch, useful when you want the mic live only when it is needed rather than open the whole time.

The capsule has a cardioid (unidirectional) polar pattern, so it picks up sound from the front and rejects noise from the sides and rear. That helps cut down on room reflections and background chatter during a conference. The base measures 115 x 139 x 50mm and the microphone stem is 425 x 20mm diameter, with a total weight of 550g that keeps it steady on the table. Note that in some regions a lavalier or lapel mic is also called a tie-clip mic, though the COM46 is a stem type rather than a clip-on.
