Description

The Adastra COM41 is a dynamic paging microphone built for public address work. It uses a moving coil dynamic capsule, so it runs happily without phantom power and connects straight to a standard XLR channel input. The flexible gooseneck stem terminates in an XLR plug, letting you angle the head to suit whoever is speaking.

You can use the microphone on its own or mount it onto the supplied die-cast base unit, which has a latching on/off switch for hands-free paging announcements. The cardioid polar pattern picks up sound from the front while rejecting noise from the sides and rear, which helps keep announcements clear in busy rooms. Frequency response runs from 50Hz to 12kHz, a range suited to speech rather than music, and output impedance sits at 600 ohms or below for easy matching with mixers and mixer-amplifiers.

In the box you get a foam windshield (windscreen in US terms) to cut breath pops and plosives, plus a 3m balanced XLR-to-XLR lead for connecting to your mixer or mixer-amplifier. Assembled with the base unit, the COM41 weighs 942g and measures 430 x 136 x 107mm, giving it enough desktop presence to stay put during use. Sensitivity is rated at -53.2dB ±3dB. It is a straightforward choice for reception desks, schools, shops and any setting that needs reliable spoken announcements over a PA system.
