Description

The Adastra CF-5D is a 100V line ceiling speaker built for fire alarm and voice evacuation systems. It carries EN54-24 certification, so it meets the requirements for use alongside fire detection and alarm equipment. The 5.25in driver is rated at 6W and comes with a rear fire dome housing that acts as a barrier against fire spreading through the ceiling void.

Installation is straightforward. The fire dome lifts away from the speaker unit so you can fit it into the ceiling cavity first, then pull the speaker into position using the spring loaded retainers for a neat flush finish. The frame and basket are all metal, with the frame made from powder coated steel. Wiring runs to ceramic screw terminals, and the fire-resistant cable is rated to 95°C. Four 100V volume tappings (0.75W, 1.5W, 3W and 6W) let you set the output to suit each zone.

Sensitivity is 92dB SPL measured at 1W/1m, giving useful coverage for background music and clear announcements across offices, retail and public buildings. Because the CF-5D runs on a 100V line, you can connect several speakers on a single run and balance levels using the tappings, which keeps installation tidy and cabling simple across larger sites. The fire dome design means you get the safety compliance you need without adding a separate enclosure.

Is the CF-5D fire rated?

Yes. It is certified to EN54-24, which is the standard for loudspeakers used in fire detection and voice alarm systems. The supplied fire dome forms a barrier against fire in the ceiling void.

What are the volume tappings?

There are four 100V tappings: 0.75W, 1.5W, 3W and 6W. You select the tapping at the ceramic screw terminals to set the output level for each speaker.

Does it work on standard amplifiers?

The CF-5D is a 100V line speaker, so it needs a 100V amplifier. It is not designed for direct low-impedance connection to a standard hi-fi amplifier.

How does the fire dome fit?

The dome removes from the speaker unit so you can install it into the ceiling cavity first. A spring loaded mechanism then pulls the speaker into place for a flush fit.

What size cut-out does it need?

The driver is 5.25in, so plan your ceiling cut-out to match the speaker frame. Check the fitting template supplied with the unit before cutting.

Can I use standard speaker cable?

For EN54 compliance you should use fire-resistant cable. This speaker is designed to work with cable rated to 95°C to maintain its fire rating.
