Description

The Adastra CC5V is a 5.25 inch two-way ceiling speaker built for 100V line systems, though it also runs at 8 Ohms if you prefer a low impedance setup. A rotary selector switch on the front lets you choose the power tapping or switch to 8 Ohm mode, so you can balance the output across a run of speakers or match a standard amplifier without extra hardware.

Sound comes from a PP mica bass driver paired with a directional dome tweeter, which gives a wide frequency response suited to background music and speech in shops, offices and communal areas. The 160 degree dispersion angle spreads sound evenly across a room, so you need fewer units to cover a given space. The white polymer frame and metal grille sit flush against the ceiling and keep a clean, plain look.

Fitting is quick thanks to the spring-loaded 'dog-ear' mounts, which clamp onto ceiling tiles between 1mm and 20mm thick. There is no need for a separate back box or a lot of tools; the arms swing out and grip the tile as you tighten. Spring-loaded terminals handle the wiring, so you push the cable in and go. If you are wiring a 100V line (sometimes called a constant-voltage line in the US), the tapping selector makes it easy to set the load on each speaker as you install it along the run.
