Description

The Adastra BP4A-W is the active version of our BP-series weatherproof wall-mounted speakers, with an amplifier built into the cabinet. It runs from any 12Vdc power supply rated at 2A or more, which isn't included, so you can power it from the same supply as a CCTV setup or another low-voltage system. A hard-wired 4-core cable carries both power and the signal, and the speaker accepts a mono line level input at 0.775Vrms.

With an IP54 rating, water-resistant polypropylene drivers and a sealed cabinet, the BP4A-W works indoors or in sheltered outdoor areas. It's a good option where you want better sound quality than an active horn speaker can offer, whether that's for background music, paging over CCTV, or extending an existing installation without fitting more amplifiers. Each unit uses a 100mm (4") polypropylene cone woofer and a 25mm (1") balanced dome tweeter, giving up to 12W of output.

The speaker measures 195 x 150 x 150mm and weighs 1.298kg. A wall mounting bracket is included, so you can angle each unit towards the listening area during fitting. The white finish suits most walls and ceilings, and the sealed build helps keep moisture and dust out in exposed positions. Because the amplifier sits inside each speaker, wiring stays simple: run 12V power and a line level signal to each location and you're done.

Does the BP4A-W come with a power supply?

No. It needs a 12Vdc power supply rated at 2A or more, which is sold separately. You can use one supply to feed multiple speakers as long as it has enough current.

Can I use it outdoors?

Yes, in sheltered outdoor areas. Its IP54 rating, water-resistant polypropylene drivers and sealed cabinet suit covered or partly exposed positions rather than fully open ones.

What signal input does it accept?

A mono line level signal at 0.775Vrms, with a maximum of 1.3V. Power and signal both run through the hard-wired 4-core cable.

Do I need a separate amplifier?

No. The amplifier is built into each speaker, so you only need to supply 12V power and a line level signal. This makes it useful for extending an existing system.
