Description

The Adastra BCS52S is a set of Bluetooth ceiling speakers supplied as a pair, with one active speaker holding the Bluetooth receiver and one passive slave speaker. Once paired, you can play audio wirelessly from a phone, tablet or laptop using Bluetooth 5.0. The Bluetooth connectivity is switchable, so you can turn it off when you prefer to use a wired source. Each speaker is a full-range 2-way coaxial design, combining low and high frequency drivers with flared baffles for a smooth response across the audio range.

The active speaker includes an RCA line input and output, which lets you daisy-chain several sets together across a larger area. This makes the BCS52S a sensible choice for both domestic rooms and commercial spaces such as shops, cafes and offices. Each speaker runs at 4 Ohms, with a 12mm neodymium dome tweeter handling the high frequencies and a 160 degree dispersion angle to spread sound evenly through a room. The housings are moulded from ABS plastic.

Installation is straightforward thanks to dog-ear clamps that grip the ceiling from behind, plus an in-line DC power supply with a UK to C7 power lead. The frameless magnetic grilles sit low and flush, with no visible frame around the edge, so the speakers keep a plain, tidy look once fitted. A 3m speaker link cable connects the active and passive units. The 5.25in (5.25 inch) driver size gives a good balance between output and a compact cut-out, making these a practical pair for ceilings where you want music without a floor or shelf-standing speaker taking up space.
