Description

The Adastra BC5A-B is a 2-way active stereo speaker set built around 5.25" drivers. It comes as a pair: one powered unit with a built-in stereo amplifier module, plus one passive satellite that connects to it. That layout keeps things simple, since you only need to run mains power to a single speaker and link the second one across with the supplied 4m cable.

Each channel puts out 30W RMS, so you get 2 x 30W across the pair. The drivers are magnetically shielded, which makes them suitable for placing near screens and monitors without picture interference. Front-mounted volume, treble and bass controls let you set the sound to the room, and there's a power on/off switch with an LED indicator so you can see at a glance when the set is live. The 133mm PP cone woofer handles the low end, while a 25mm balanced dome tweeter covers the highs, giving a frequency response of 100Hz to 20kHz.

We supply the set with mounting brackets, a 4m speaker link cable and a 1.5m figure-8 (fig.8) mains lead, so it's ready to install straight away. It suits nearfield monitoring, home entertainment or a small active background music system for a shop or office. Each unit measures 240 x 180 x 155mm and the pair weighs 4.6kg, with a sensitivity of 88dB and 150° dispersion at -3dB. Power comes from a 230Vac, 50Hz supply.
