This Adastra package brings together everything you need for background music and announcements in a room with a low, suspended false ceiling. It pairs eight 6W metal-framed 100V ceiling speakers with a compact UM-series 60W mixer-amplifier, giving you a complete kit for an office, retail outlet, workshop or café. The speakers, cable and amplifier are packed separately, so you can plan the install to suit your space.

The UM-series amplifier has a built-in Bluetooth receiver, a USB MP3 player and an FM tuner, so you can play music from a phone, a memory stick or the radio. It also carries a 6.3mm jack microphone input and an RCA line input (called a phono input in the UK) for connecting an MP3 player, smartphone or computer. The amp can be rack mounted in pairs, fixed to a wall or tucked under a worktop, which keeps it out of the way in tighter rooms. An optional paging microphone (952.341UK) is available if you need to make announcements over the music.

Each 5.25 inch ceiling speaker uses a 100V line, which lets you run several units from one amplifier over a long cable run. We supply 25 metres of black speaker cable in the box, and more is available separately (801.816UK). When extending the cable, use a terminal block and keep the + and - conductors apart to avoid a short. If you want to add more speakers later, you can, provided the total speaker wattage stays below 90% of the amplifier's maximum output. The system suits low background noise areas where clear, low-level sound is the aim rather than high volume.
