Description

A shallow round plate carries a close-packed cluster of clear crystal spheres, so light from the candle lamp behind them breaks up into small bright points across the ceiling. The frame and backplate are finished in antique brass, a warm gold with a slightly darkened tone that stops the crystal reading cold. At 25cm across it stays a small fitting, sitting tight against the ceiling instead of hanging below it.

We reach for it where a pendant would only be in the way: a hallway, a small landing, the turn at the top of a stair, a box room, or the corner of a bedroom over a dressing table. One E14 candle lamp does the work, so running costs stay low with an LED, and dimming is possible where the lamp itself is dimmable. It is meant for dry rooms indoors, so keep it out of shower rooms and porches. We stock the matching chrome version too, if brass is not what your room wants.

The body is plated metal and the spheres are cut crystal, which is what gives the fitting its weight in the hand. Dust settles on crystal quickly, so a flick of a dry microfibre cloth every few weeks keeps the sparkle; for anything stickier, switch the circuit off, let the lamp cool, then use a cloth wrung out almost dry and finish with a dry one. It carries a one year warranty. Beyond this size, the range runs to wider round plates with more lamps, square plates fitted with prism crystal rather than spheres, and a switched wall light in the same antique brass. Lamps are not included.
