Description

Clear crystal spheres sit in tight clusters across a round antique brass frame, so the light breaks up and scatters rather than falling in a single flat pool. It measures 38cm across, holds close against the ceiling, and takes E14 candle lamps behind the glass. Switched off it reads as a ring of glass beads; switched on, the brass warms through and each sphere picks up its own small point of light.

We reach for this where a chandelier or pendant would hang too low: hallways, landings, a bedroom under a lower ceiling, or over a dining table in a flat. We would fit LED candle lamps here, since they suit the small sockets and keep the running cost sensible, and the fitting will dim if the lamps you choose are dimmable. The lamps together give enough output for a main room, and because the whole thing stays shallow it clears doors, wardrobes and tall heads without trouble. It suits anyone who wants a little sparkle overhead without the upkeep of a hanging crystal fitting.

The frame is metal in an antique brass finish, aged rather than bright, and the crystal is faceted glass. To clean, turn it off at the wall switch and work over the spheres with a dry lint-free cloth, using a soft brush to get between the clusters where dust gathers. It is meant for dry indoor rooms on a normal household supply, and it needs an earth connection. It carries a one year warranty.
