Description

Antique brass gives this one a warm, slightly darkened tone rather than a bright yellow shine, and the proportions stay low and shallow so it sits close above whatever it lights. It spans 35cm and carries two G9 capsule lamps, throwing light down and forward across the surface below. A toggle switch on the fitting turns it on and off by hand, and dimming is possible where you fit dimmable capsules. Nothing about it shouts; the shape does its job and stops there.

Picture lights earn their keep over a painting or a framed print, though we use them just as often above a run of shelves, along a hallway, or either side of a bed as low reading light. The forward reach clears a deep frame, and the switch on the body suits rooms where the nearest wall switch is awkwardly placed. We would fit warm white capsules for artwork, since they flatter paper and canvas better than a cold light. It suits a study, a landing, or a dining room wall where you want the art lit and the rest of the room left quiet. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, away from bathrooms and anywhere it would meet damp.

The aged brass carries a little variation across the metal, which is part of how it reads. Dust it with a dry soft cloth and leave metal polish and spray cleaners well alone, as they will cut the aged look back to bare shine. Switch off and let the capsules go cold before you handle them. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same width in satin nickel and satin black, and a longer version comes in each finish for wide pictures and broad chimney breasts. Lamps are not included.
