Description

Solid oak in our Dark Oak finish forms the open frame of this lounge chair, its four splayed legs and cross-rails giving a low, steady footing that we like in a reading corner or beside a window. The single upholstered shell curves in one piece to hold both the seat and the back, and we have covered it in a deep Black that reads warm against the grain of the wood rather than stark. At 83cm high and 70cm deep, it sits close to the floor and keeps a relaxed line, so it slips under a shelf or alongside a side table without crowding the room.

The shell is built over plywood and shaped with PUR foam, then finished in a polyester covering drawn from the Horizons S, Teddy Bear and Hope leather textile ranges. This is not a high-backed or winged chair and it does not recline; it is simply a curved seat you can settle into, with the Dark Oak frame carrying the weight and the Black upholstery softening it. The whole piece weighs 16.5kg, so we can move it between rooms easily enough when the layout changes.

We hold this lounge chair to the EN 16139 (L1) furniture standard, and the textiles carry both the Global Recycled Standard and STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, which tells you what has gone into the parts you touch every day. Assembly takes around 20min, fixing the shell to the frame with no special tools needed from us.
