Description

The Knightsbridge 63A 4-pole rotary isolator provides switching and isolation for three-phase AC supplies rated between 230V and 415V, housed in an IP65-rated ABS and polycarbonate enclosure. The rotary handle turns 90° between ON and OFF positions, with a red circular face and yellow surround that makes the switch status visible from a distance.

Designed for commercial, industrial and agricultural installations where three-phase equipment needs to be isolated for maintenance or safety, the enclosure measures 175mm high by 115mm wide by 132mm deep and mounts to a wall or panel via two fixing points. M20 cable knockouts on the base allow easy cable entry, and integrated earth terminals inside the enclosure provide a bonding point for protective earth conductors.

The switch mechanism interlocks with the enclosure lid, preventing the lid from being opened while the isolator is in the ON position. This safety feature reduces the risk of accidental contact with live terminals during servicing. The IP65 rating means the enclosure is dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction, making it suitable for outdoor mounting in sheltered locations or indoor use in damp or dusty environments.

Frequently Asked

What does the lid interlock do?

The lid interlock prevents the enclosure from being opened while the rotary switch is in the ON position. You must turn the handle to OFF before the lid can be removed, reducing the risk of accidental contact with live terminals during servicing.

Can this be used outdoors?

The IP65 rating means the enclosure is dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction. It can be used outdoors in sheltered locations (under eaves, inside equipment housings) or indoors in damp or dusty environments. It is not rated for prolonged direct exposure to rain or submersion.

What size cable entries does it have?

The enclosure has M20 cable knockouts on the base for cable entry. These accept M20 cable glands (sold separately) suitable for cables typically up to 16mm diameter.

Is it suitable for single-phase supplies?

The isolator is a 4-pole switch designed for three-phase supplies (3 phases plus neutral or 3 phases plus earth). It can be used on single-phase supplies if required, but a 2-pole rotary isolator would typically be more appropriate and cost-effective for single-phase applications.
