Description

The Knightsbridge BH22PB is a 60W IP65-rated bulkhead light built from a black polycarbonate base with a clear prismatic polycarbonate cover. The fitting houses a B22 bayonet lampholder rated for bulbs up to 60W on 230V mains, with the bulb sold separately. The IP65 rating provides full protection against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, making the fitting suitable for external walls, covered outdoor areas, garages, and industrial environments.

Designed for wall or soffit mounting on external walls, porches, building entrances, and covered walkways, the bulkhead provides functional illumination rather than decorative accent lighting. The 244mm x 124mm footprint and 120mm projection suit standard external wall mounting positions, and the fitting mounts directly to a weatherproof back box or suitable masonry surface. The Class II double-insulated construction removes the need for an earth connection, simplifying installation on older properties without modern earthing systems.

The prismatic cover diffuses light from the central B22 bulb across a wider spread than clear covers, reducing glare while maintaining useful light output for pathways, doorways and loading areas. The black polycarbonate base blends into darker wall finishes and painted masonry, while the clear cover shows the bulb when lit. Polycarbonate construction gives impact resistance superior to glass or acrylic alternatives, reducing the risk of breakage in high-traffic areas or exposed positions.

The fitting takes a standard B22 bayonet bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 6-10W LED B22 bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) or cool white (4000K-6000K) depending on application.

Can it be used in exposed outdoor positions?

Yes. The IP65 rating provides full protection against dust and low-pressure water jets from any direction, making it suitable for external walls, covered walkways, porches, and industrial outdoor areas. It is not designed for full submersion or high-pressure washing.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb fitted. If you fit a dimmable LED or halogen B22 bulb, the fitting will dim when paired with a compatible dimmer switch. The fitting itself does not restrict dimming.

What surface can it be mounted to?

The bulkhead mounts to weatherproof back boxes, masonry walls, or timber soffits. The Class II double-insulated construction does not require an earth connection, simplifying installation on older properties without modern earthing systems.
