The Knightsbridge AMLEDR is a 5W LED security bulkhead with a black polycarbonate base and a red polycarbonate diffuser, rated IP54 for outdoor use. The integrated SMD LED provides 520 lumens at source with a 120-degree beam angle, filtered through the red diffuser to emit 55 lumens of red light for low-level security and amenity applications. The fitting accepts dual voltage input at 110V or 230V, making it suitable for both construction site temporary power and permanent mains installation.

Designed for continuous operation in areas requiring 24-hour marker or security lighting, the bulkhead suits fire exit routes, plant rooms, loading bays, stairwells, storage yards and car parks where red light indicates restricted access or marks hazards without producing glare. The IP54 rating protects the LED module and driver against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, allowing external wall mounting on building perimeters, covered walkways and canopies.

The polycarbonate construction resists impact and UV degradation better than acrylic or standard ABS housings, maintaining clarity and colour consistency over the rated 60,000-hour L70B50 lifespan. At 197mm length, 108mm width and 78mm projection, the bulkhead fits standard back boxes and surface-mounts onto brick, blockwork or metal cladding using the rear fixing points. The Class II double-insulated design requires no earth connection, simplifying installation on metal surfaces and legacy wiring.

The non-dimmable LED driver operates at 106 lumens per watt efficacy before diffuser filtering, drawing 5W continuously. The red diffuser absorbs most wavelengths outside the red spectrum, resulting in the lower 55-lumen output while preserving night vision in security applications and reducing light pollution in residential boundaries.

Why does the bulkhead emit red light?

The red polycarbonate diffuser filters the white SMD LED output to produce red light, commonly used for security and amenity applications where red indicates restricted areas, fire exits, or hazard zones. Red light also preserves night vision better than white light in outdoor security contexts.

Can it run on both 110V and 230V?

Yes. The integrated driver accepts either 110V or 230V AC input without modification, making the bulkhead suitable for construction sites running temporary 110V supplies and permanent installations on 230V mains.

What does IP54 protect against?

IP54 means the fitting is protected against dust ingress sufficient to prevent interference with operation, and against water splashes from any direction. It can be mounted outdoors on walls under canopies, soffits and covered walkways, but is not suitable for direct rain exposure or pressure washing.

How long does the LED last?

The rated L70B50 lifespan is 60,000 hours, meaning 70% of the LEDs will still produce at least 70% of their original light output after 60,000 hours of continuous operation. At 24-hour use this equates to approximately 6.8 years before noticeable degradation.
