Description

The Knightsbridge AMLEDB is a 5W LED security bulkhead with a black polycarbonate base and an opal polycarbonate diffuser, rated IP54 for outdoor and wet-environment installation. The integrated SMD LED produces 440 lumens of 4000K cool white light at 100 lumens per watt efficacy, spread across a 120-degree beam angle. The fitting operates on both 110V site voltage and 230V mains without modification, making it suitable for construction sites, industrial yards and domestic outdoor applications where the supply voltage may vary.

Designed for continuous low-level security lighting, the bulkhead suits wall-mounting on exterior walkways, garage walls, storage yards, loading bays and residential side passages where a fixed light source is needed overnight or in low-visibility conditions. The IP54 rating protects against solid dust ingress and water splashing from any direction, though the fitting is not submersible or suitable for direct high-pressure hosing. The polycarbonate construction resists impact better than glass or acrylic equivalents, reducing breakage risk in high-traffic areas or where tools and equipment are handled nearby.

The black base measures 197mm long by 108mm wide with a 78mm projection from the wall once mounted. The opal diffuser softens the light output and reduces direct glare when viewed from below or at eye level, making the bulkhead comfortable to walk past at night. The LED is rated for 60,000 hours at L70B50 (the point at which 50% of a sample would have degraded to 70% of original lumen output), which equates to approximately 6.8 years of continuous operation. The fitting carries a 3-year manufacturer warranty and is non-dimmable.

What does IP54 mean for outdoor use?

IP54 means the bulkhead is protected against dust ingress and splashing water from any direction. It can be mounted on exterior walls exposed to rain and weather, but should not be subjected to direct high-pressure washing or submersion.

Does it work on both 110V and 230V?

Yes. The fitting operates on both 110V site voltage and 230V domestic mains without any internal modification or switch. This makes it suitable for construction sites that use 110V transformed supplies as well as standard UK residential installations.

Is the bulkhead dimmable?

No. The integrated LED is not compatible with dimmer switches and should be wired to a standard on/off switch or PIR sensor only.

How is it mounted?

The bulkhead is surface-mounted to an exterior wall using two fixing screws through the back plate. The cable enters through a rear knockout gland and connects to the terminal block inside the base. Full fitting instructions are included in the manual available in the Downloads tab.
