Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP switch is a 1-gang double pole isolator with a neon indicator built into a matt black screwless faceplate. Rated at 45A on 230V mains, the switch handles loads up to 10,350W and is designed to isolate cookers, ovens, ranges and other high-draw appliances from the mains supply for safe maintenance, cleaning or servicing.

Fitted in kitchens and utility rooms near cookers or built-in appliances, the switch provides a visible isolation point without needing to access the consumer unit. The double pole switching disconnects both live and neutral when the rocker is in the off position, isolating the appliance completely from the mains. The neon indicator glows red when the switch is in the on position, providing a visual confirmation that the circuit is live.

The matt black finish is achieved on a premium-grade steel faceplate, giving a durable surface that pairs well with contemporary kitchens, industrial-style interiors and black or dark-grey appliance suites. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate sub-frame fixed to the back box, hiding fixings and giving a clean wall finish. The 87.5mm square format fits standard 1-gang back boxes with a minimum 47mm depth.

Frequently Asked

What load can the 45A switch handle?

The switch is rated at 45A on 230V mains, giving a maximum load capacity of 10,350W. This comfortably handles most domestic cookers, ranges and oven combinations, even when multiple heating elements are operating simultaneously.

What does the neon indicator show?

The neon glows red when the switch is in the on position, indicating that the circuit is live and power is available to the appliance. When the switch is off, the neon is dark, confirming that the appliance is isolated from the mains.

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless faceplate adds approximately 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

Can this switch be used for other appliances?

Yes. While commonly used for cooker isolation, the switch can isolate any high-load appliance within the 45A rating, such as immersion heaters, heat pumps or large electric radiators.
