Description

This 40m CAT5 ethernet cable is designed for IP camera installations, with pre-terminated RJ45 connectors at both ends and a polyethylene jacket rated for external use. The cable carries both power and data over four twisted pairs, supporting PoE (Power over Ethernet) configurations where the camera draws power from the network switch or injector at the other end of the run.

Intended for CCTV installations in commercial, residential and industrial sites, the 40m length bridges cameras mounted on building exteriors, at gate entrances, or across car parks back to a recorder or network switch inside. The polyethylene jacket provides UV resistance and weatherproofing for above-ground outdoor runs, though the cable is not rated for direct burial without conduit. The pre-terminated RJ45 connectors eliminate the need for on-site crimping, reducing installation time and the risk of poor termination causing dropouts.

The four twisted pairs follow standard CAT5 wiring, supporting 10/100 Mbps ethernet data rates typical of IP cameras up to 5MP resolution. Yes. The four twisted pairs support PoE (Power over Ethernet), allowing the cable to carry both network data and power to IP cameras that accept PoE input. This eliminates the need for a separate power cable at the camera end, provided the camera and network switch or injector both support PoE standards.

Is it suitable for outdoor installations?

The polyethylene jacket provides UV resistance and weatherproofing for above-ground outdoor cable runs along walls, through cable trays or in conduit. The cable is not rated for direct burial in soil without protective conduit.
