The Knightsbridge FP2194PC is a 4-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer rated at 10-200W per gang for incandescent and halogen loads, or 5-150W per gang for LED loads. Each gang operates independently with a push-on/off action and rotary dimming control, allowing four separate lighting zones to be controlled from a single polished chrome flat plate. The dimmer switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes via the front control knob, making it compatible with a wide range of dimmable lamp technologies without requiring rewiring or back-box access.

Designed for residential installations where multiple lighting circuits meet at a single switch position, the 4-gang layout suits hallways, open-plan living spaces, and master bedroom suites where ambient, task, decorative and accent lighting layers need individual control. The 2-way wiring configuration allows the same four circuits to be controlled from two separate locations, such as opposite ends of a hallway or at the top and bottom of a staircase. The ultra-flat 2.5mm projection keeps the plate close to the wall, reducing the risk of snagging and giving a cleaner line in contemporary interiors.

The polished chrome finish provides a mirror-like reflective surface that pairs with modern chrome fixtures, handles and taps. The faceplate is premium-grade steel rather than plated plastic, giving durability under daily use. Each gang includes overload and overheat protection, plus an inrush current limiter to prevent damage when switching on high-capacitance LED drivers. The dimmer requires a 25mm minimum back box depth and is rated IP20 for indoor dry locations only. All trim adjustments, mode switching and resets are accessible from the front of the plate, so changes to lamp types or fittings can be accommodated without removing the faceplate.

The dimmer must be used with dimmable lamps only, and all lamps on a single gang must be the same brand, wattage and type. Mixing lamp brands, wattages or technologies on one gang will cause flickering, buzzing or premature failure.

What is the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge dimming?

Trailing-edge dimming cuts the end of the AC waveform and works best with low-voltage LED drivers and electronic transformers. Leading-edge dimming cuts the start of the waveform and suits resistive loads like incandescent and halogen bulbs. This dimmer ships preset to trailing-edge mode but can be switched to leading-edge via the front control knob if your lamps flicker or buzz on trailing-edge.

Can I mix LED and halogen lamps on the same gang?

No. Each gang must use lamps of the same brand, wattage and technology. Mixing lamp types on one gang causes flickering, buzzing or failure. If you need to control mixed lamp types, use separate gangs for each type.

What is 2-way wiring and when is it needed?

2-way wiring allows the same lighting circuits to be controlled from two separate switch positions, such as opposite ends of a hallway or at the top and bottom of stairs. If you only need control from one position, standard 1-way wiring is sufficient.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The 2.5mm projection of the flat plate adds minimal depth beyond the wall surface once fitted.
