Description
The Knightsbridge 4-gang intelligent dimmer provides independent rotary dimming control across four lighting circuits from a single matt black screwless faceplate. Each gang handles 10-200W incandescent or halogen loads, or 5-150W dimmable LED loads, with switchable trailing-edge and leading-edge modes selectable per gang to match different lamp technologies.
Designed for residential living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms where multiple lighting circuits need individual dimming control, the unit allows each circuit to be adjusted independently via push-on/off and rotary dimming knobs. The mode switching (trailing vs leading-edge) is controlled from the front of the plate via a trim knob on each gang, meaning the dimmer can be reconfigured for different lamp types without removing the faceplate or accessing the back box. This makes it straightforward to adapt the dimmer if bulbs are changed from halogen to LED, or if different LED drivers require a different edge mode.
The matt black finish is a low-sheen powder coat over premium-grade steel, giving a contemporary architectural appearance that pairs with black ironmongery, dark timber joinery and monochrome interiors. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, hiding all fixings once installed. Each gang includes overload and overheat protection, plus an inrush current limiter to handle the switching surge that occurs when certain dimmable LEDs are first powered. The dimmer requires a 25mm minimum back box depth and connects via screw terminals with an earth connection required.
Note: All lamps controlled by a single gang must be the same brand, type and wattage. Mixing different lamp brands or wattages on one circuit will cause flicker, hum or inconsistent dimming performance.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes?
Trailing-edge mode suits most dimmable LEDs and low-voltage lighting with electronic transformers. Leading-edge mode suits older incandescent, halogen and magnetic-transformer low-voltage lighting. The dimmer ships preset to trailing-edge, but each gang can be switched to leading-edge via the front control knob if needed for compatibility with specific lamps or drivers.
Can I mix different bulb types across the four gangs?
Yes, each gang can control a different lamp type (one gang on LEDs, another on halogen, for example) because each gang has independent mode switching. However, all lamps controlled by a single gang must be identical — same brand, type and wattage. Mixing different lamps on one circuit causes flicker and unreliable dimming.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm projection from the wall surface once fitted, with 21.3mm recessed into the back box.
How is the dimmer reset if it stops working?
Each gang has a reset function accessible via the front control knob, eliminating the need to remove the faceplate or access the back box. Consult the product specification sheet (Downloads tab) for the exact reset procedure.
