Description

The Knightsbridge SF2194AT is a 4-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer handling 10-200W incandescent or halogen loads, or 5-150W LED loads per gang. Each gang uses a push on/off, rotary dimming control behind an anthracite screwless faceplate with matching anthracite dimmer caps. The dimmer switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes from the front-mounted control knob, allowing compatibility with a wide range of dimmable lamps without rewiring.

Designed for residential and hospitality settings where multiple lighting circuits need independent dimming control, the 4-gang layout suits dining rooms, living rooms and bedrooms with separate circuits for pendants, wall lights, downlights and table lamps. The 2-way switching allows the same circuit to be controlled from two locations, such as a door entry and bedside position. The screwless cover plate clips onto a steel sub-frame, hiding all fixings once installed.

The control knob on each gang provides trimming, mode switching and reset functions from the front of the plate, making it straightforward to adjust settings if lamps are changed without removing the faceplate. The dimmer arrives preset in trailing-edge mode, which suits most modern LED drivers. Leading-edge mode supports older magnetic transformers and some high-wattage incandescent fittings. Overload and overheat protection, plus an inrush current limiter, prevent damage from switch-on surges and incompatible loads.

The anthracite finish is a dark charcoal grey with a low-sheen metallic appearance, sitting between matt black and brushed steel. The premium-grade steel construction adds weight and rigidity compared to plastic dimmer plates. The dimmer requires a 25mm minimum back box depth and fits standard UK double-gang mounting boxes. All four gangs must be used with dimmable lamps only, and Knightsbridge advises against mixing different lamp brands or wattages on the same circuit to avoid flickering or reduced dimming range.

Trailing-edge mode suits most modern LED drivers and electronic transformers. Leading-edge mode supports older magnetic transformers and some high-wattage incandescent fittings. Can I mix LED and halogen lamps on the same gang?

No. Knightsbridge advises against mixing different lamp types, brands or wattages on the same circuit, as this causes flickering, reduced dimming range or failure to dim smoothly. Each gang should control a single lamp type at consistent wattage.

What back box depth is required?
