Description
The Knightsbridge OS0016 is a 360° recess mount PIR sensor with a 2-20m adjustable detection range, designed for ceiling installation in commercial, residential and hospitality interiors. The sensor sits flush within an 80mm cut-out with a 34mm projection below the ceiling plane, giving a clean white polycarbonate dome that scans the full room footprint beneath.
The sensor switches connected lighting automatically when movement is detected within its 360° field, with adjustable lux and time settings allowing installation in both daylight-flooded and windowless spaces. The lux threshold can be set to prevent activation in bright daylight, while the time delay can be adjusted from approximately 10 seconds to 10 minutes depending on occupancy patterns. Multiple sensors can be wired in parallel to cover larger floor areas or complex room shapes without needing separate control circuits.
Rated IP20 for indoor dry locations only, the sensor handles switching loads up to 2000W incandescent or 1000W LED, making it suitable for controlling multiple ceiling fittings on a single detection zone. The polycarbonate construction is Class II double-insulated, requiring only live, neutral and switched live connections without an earth. The 110mm diameter faceplate conceals the cut-out edge and provides access to the three rotary adjustment dials visible in the image (TIME, SENS, LUX).

Frequently Asked
What ceiling void depth is required?
The sensor requires an 80mm cut-out diameter and projects 34mm below the ceiling surface once installed. The wiring compartment above the sensor body adds minimal depth, so a total ceiling void of approximately 60-80mm is sufficient for installation and connection.
Can multiple sensors be wired together?
Yes. Multiple OS0016 sensors can be wired in parallel to cover larger areas or complex room shapes, with all sensors controlling the same lighting circuit. This is useful in open-plan offices, corridors or L-shaped rooms where a single sensor cannot achieve full coverage.
What does the adjustable lux setting control?
The lux dial sets the ambient light threshold at which the sensor will activate. Set low, the sensor will trigger even in bright daylight; set high, it will only activate in darkness or very low light. This prevents unnecessary switching in daylit rooms while allowing activation when natural light falls below a usable level.
Is it suitable for outdoor use?
No. The IP20 rating certifies the sensor for indoor dry locations only. For outdoor or bathroom ceiling installation, an IP44 or IP65-rated PIR sensor is required.
