Description

The Knightsbridge SF2193BC is a 3-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer rated for 10-200W halogen or 5-150W LED loads per gang, behind a brushed chrome screwless faceplate. Each gang features a rotary knob that pushes to switch on/off and rotates to adjust brightness. The dimmer switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes from the front of the plate using the control knobs, making it compatible with most dimmable LED, halogen and incandescent lamps without rewiring.

Designed for living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms where multiple circuits need independent dimming control, the 2-way wiring allows the dimmer to be paired with a standard 2-way switch at the opposite end of the room. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, leaving no visible fixings on the wall once installed. Each gang ships preset in trailing-edge mode, which suits most modern dimmable LEDs, and can be switched to leading-edge mode if fitting older halogen or incandescent loads.

The premium-grade steel faceplate measures 147.5mm wide by 87.5mm high with a 4.3mm projection from the wall. The dimmer includes overload and overheat protection, plus an inrush current limiter to handle the initial surge when lamps are switched on. The brushed chrome finish provides a cool metallic accent that pairs with contemporary and transitional interiors. All three gangs must control lamps of the same type, wattage and brand within each circuit — mixed lamp environments cause flicker or incompatibility.

What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge mode?

Trailing-edge mode suits modern dimmable LED and low-voltage halogen lamps. Leading-edge mode suits older incandescent and mains-voltage halogen lamps. The dimmer ships preset in trailing-edge mode and can be switched to leading-edge mode from the front of the plate using the control knob if needed for compatibility with your specific lamp type.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

Can I mix different lamp brands on the same circuit?

No. All lamps controlled by each gang must be the same brand, the same wattage and the same type. Mixing different lamp brands or wattages causes flicker, buzzing or incompatibility. If you have three different circuits, each circuit can use different lamps, but within each circuit all lamps must match.

What does 2-way wiring mean?

2-way wiring allows this dimmer to be paired with a standard 2-way switch at the opposite end of the room, so lights can be switched on/off from two locations. Only one location will have dimming control — the other location typically uses a standard 2-way rocker or toggle switch.
