The Knightsbridge SF2193AT is a 3-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer rated for 10-200W traditional loads or 5-150W LED per circuit, behind an anthracite screwless faceplate with matching rotary dimmer knobs. Each gang switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge dimming modes via a control knob accessible from the front of the plate, allowing the dimmer to be reconfigured when lighting types change without removing the faceplate or rewiring.

Designed for residential installations where multiple circuits need independent dimming control from a single wall plate, the 3-gang configuration suits living rooms with separate control for ceiling lights, wall lights and floor lamps, or hallways controlling front/rear zones plus decorative fixtures. The 2-way switching allows the same circuit to be dimmed from two different locations when paired with a compatible 2-way dimmer at the other switch position. Each gang operates via push on/off and rotary dimming action, with the rotary knob controlling brightness level and the push action toggling the circuit.

The anthracite finish is a dark grey-black metallic tone that sits between matt black and gunmetal, providing a contemporary accent for modern and industrial interiors. The screwless faceplate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, concealing all fixings once installed. Built-in overload and overheat protection shut the dimmer down if load limits are exceeded or internal temperature rises beyond safe thresholds. An inrush current limiter (ICL) prevents damage from the surge that occurs when switching capacitive LED loads. The dimmer requires a 25mm minimum back box depth and fits standard UK wiring with screw terminals and earth connection.

What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge dimming?

Trailing-edge (default mode) works with most LED and CFL dimmable bulbs by chopping the back of the AC waveform. Leading-edge works with older incandescent, halogen and resistive loads by chopping the front of the waveform. This dimmer ships preset to trailing-edge and can be switched to leading-edge via the front control knob if needed for compatibility with a specific load type.

Can I mix different bulb types or wattages on one gang?

No. Each gang must control identical bulbs of the same brand, model and wattage. Mixing different LED models or wattages on one circuit causes flicker, early dropout or dimmer instability because different bulbs have different dimming curves and current draw patterns.

Does it work with non-dimmable LED bulbs?

No. Only dimmable LED, CFL, halogen or incandescent bulbs are compatible. Non-dimmable bulbs will flicker, hum, or not dim at all, and may damage the dimmer or bulb driver over time.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is required for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm projection from the wall once fitted, with 21.3mm recessed behind the wall surface.
