The Knightsbridge SF2193BN is a 3-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer that switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes from the front of the plate, making it compatible with a wide range of dimmable LED, halogen and incandescent lamps. Each gang handles 10-200W for resistive loads or 5-150W for dimmable LED loads, controlled via individual push on/off and rotary dimming knobs behind a black nickel screwless faceplate.

Designed for residential multi-room lighting control, the dimmer allows each gang to control a separate circuit independently — common installations include living rooms with separate circuits for ceiling spots, wall lights and table lamps, or open-plan kitchens where island pendants, under-cabinet lighting and ceiling downlights are controlled from a single plate. The 2-way switching capability means the dimmer can be paired with a standard 2-way switch at the opposite end of a room or hallway, allowing the same lights to be controlled from two positions.

The intelligent mode-switching is controlled via the front knob on each gang, eliminating the need to remove the plate or re-wire when changing lamp types. Trailing-edge mode suits dimmable LEDs and electronic transformers, while leading-edge mode suits older halogen and incandescent lamps. The dimmer includes overload protection, overheat protection and an inrush current limiter to prevent surges when lamps are switched on. The black nickel finish is a dark gunmetal tone that sits between polished chrome and matt black, pairing well with industrial, contemporary and monochrome interiors.

The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, giving a clean finish with no visible fixings on the wall. What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge mode?

Trailing-edge mode suits dimmable LED lamps and electronic transformers, while leading-edge mode suits older halogen and incandescent lamps. The dimmer is preset to trailing-edge and can be switched to leading-edge via the front control knob if needed for compatibility with specific lamp types.

Can I mix different lamp types on the same gang?

No. Each gang must control lamps of the same type, wattage and brand. Mixing different lamp brands or wattages on the same circuit can cause flickering, buzzing or dimmer failure. If you need to control mixed lamp types, use separate gangs for each type.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is required. The plate projects 4.3mm from the wall once fitted, giving a total depth of approximately 30mm including the back box.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the dimmer and re-clipped without re-wiring.
